Welcome To The Future

One of the signal ironies of the Twenty-First Century (and the last quarter of the XXth) is that grinning morons on the tube dismiss odd stories out of the bounds of “normal” — that strange place that doesn’t actually exist, since, as any good reporter knows, history is compounded of equal parts weird and bizarre, and never “normal” — as “science fiction,” as in “it sounds like something out of science fiction” as their empty heads are bobbled to television sets across the land via satellite, as they interview guests via satellite, and as their video signals are edited and effects superimposed using incredibly powerful, lightweight, ultra-miniaturized computers.
