ABC Blog Censors Obama’s Accomplishments

washington.jpg

I happened to make a comment on an ABC blog, by alleged ‘reporter’ Jake Tapper, who was whining about how Obama started talking Tuesday before Hillary was done (hint: for the second straight week, she ignored the primary altogether, in which case the tradition of letting the loser make their concession speech pretty much has vanished, since the loser is just, in a very real sense, using the “concession” to grab face time in a most impolitic manner and rude). “As was customary,” in this case, seems to be a double standard, since Hillary pissed on “customary,” but Tapper’s opprobrium was reserved exclusively for Obama with nary a word on Hillary’s sleazy move.

There is suddenly a concerted effort to effectively castrate Obama in the media. You’d think that he was still in diapers and, while charming, was incredibly naive, lucky and foolish. I guess the powers that be don’t like the idea of “government of the people, by the people and for the people,” and earnestly hope that it perishes from the face of the Earth.

It is all extraordinarily disgusting: the repetition of misconstrued comments, editing WORDS out of speeches, claiming “plagiarism”* from the ONE candidate in the race who actually writes (and is good enough TO write) his own speeches. These other political hacks read other people’s words in a teleprompter, but somehow Obama “plagiarized” words given him from a chair of his campaign.

[* NOTE: None of these idiots seems to understand what "plagiarism" actually means, BTW. As a writer who HAS been plagiarized to the tune of several thousand dollars, this offends me quite a bit. Plagiarism is a very ugly thing, and an equally ugly charge to casually toss around.]

Obama scares the bastards. And they are revealing their true, yellow, craven colors each and every day.

I saved the page, and went back later, because I’d inadvertently posted my comment twice, and wanted to see if they’d removed the duplication. And, originally, in between the duplicate comments was a very important bit of information, which had been removed by the time I got back.

Part of the “swift-boating” of Obama? (I can imagine the rationalization, but I can’t countenance it.) Here, saved from the censors on the ABC blog:

Obama’s Bold Move
February 19, 2008 9:48 PM

Hillary Clinton was in the middle of attacking him in a speech in Ohio when he didn’t wait to finish — as is customary — but rather came out to a packed arena in Texas, confident, cocky.

I’ve never seen anything like it.

The cables split-screen them uncomfortably then bailed on her the moment He Spoke.

Man!

Let’s take a closer look at who’s really qualified and or who’s really working for the good of all of us in the Senate, Obama or Clinton.

Senator Clinton, who has served only one full term – 6yrs. – and another year campaigning, has managed to author and pass into law – 20 – twenty pieces of legislation in her first six years.

These bills can be found on the website of the Library of Congress www.thomas.loc.gov, but to save you trouble, I’ll post them here for you.

1. Establish the Kate Mullany National Historic Site.
2. Support the goals and ideals of Better Hearing and Speech Month.
3. Recognize the Ellis Island Medal of Honor.
4. Name courthouse after Thurgood Marshall.
5. Name courthouse after James L. Watson.
6. Name post office after Jonn A. O’Shea.
7. Designate Aug. 7, 2003, as National Purple Heart Recognition Day.
8. Support the goals and ideals of National Purple Heart Recognition Day.
9. Honor the life and legacy of Alexander Hamilton on the bicentennial of his death.
10. Congratulate the Syracuse Univ. Orange Men’s Lacrosse Team on winning the championship.
11. Congratulate the Le Moyne College Dolphins Men’s Lacrosse Team on winning the championship.
12. Establish the 225th Anniversary of the American Revolution Commemorative Program.
13. Name post office after Sergeant Riayan A. Tejeda.
14. Honor Shirley Chisholm for her service to the nation and express condolences on her death.
15. Honor John J. Downing, Brian Fahey, and Harry Ford, firefighters who lost their lives on duty.
Only five of Clinton ‘s bills are, more substantive.
16. Extend period of unemployment assistance to victims of 9/11.
17. Pay for city projects in response to 9/11
18. Assist land mine victims in other countries.
19. Assist family caregivers in accessing affordable respite care.
20. Designate part of the National Forest System in Puerto Rico as protected in the wilderness preservation system.
There you have it, the facts straight from the Senate Record.

Now, I would post those of Obama’s, but the list is too substantive, so I’ll mainly categorize.

During the first – 8 – eight years of his elected service he sponsored over 820 bills. He introduced

233 regarding health care reform,

125 on poverty and public assistance,

112 crime fighting bills,

97 economic bills,

60 human rights and anti-discrimination bills,

21 ethics reform bills,

15 gun control,

6 veterans affairs

His first year in the U.S. Senate, he authored 152 bills and co-sponsored another 427. These included **the Coburn-Obama Government Transparency Act of 2006 – became law, **The Lugar-Obama Nuclear Non-proliferation and Conventional Weapons Threat Reduction Act, – became law, **The Comprehensive Immigration Reform Act, passed the Senate, **The 2007 Government Ethics Bill, – became law, **The Protection Against Excessive Executive Compensation Bill, In committee, and many more.

In all, since entering the U.S. Senate, Senator Obama has written 890 bills and co-sponsored another 1096.

An impressive record, for someone who supposedly has no record according to some who would prefer that this comparison not be made public.

He’s not just a talker.

He’s a doer.

It was a great service, your posting this, Eresha. I’m glad to rescue it from the censor’s bloody hands.

Well, given Hillary’s various attempts at bitch-slapping Obama in the “debate” last night, I thought you might appreciate just what a lying weasel she was being by pretending that he hasn’t accomplished anything. Worse, she KNEW better.

He’s done more in three years than she’s done in seven. (And her other “experience” — “35 years” — in government service? Sleeping with a politician. That’s it. Sorry.)

There comes a moment when you have to ask yourself: Why on Earth would a Democratic version of Karl Rove be any better than the Republican one? Hillary’s “swift-boating” is getting OH, so very, very OLD. We EXPECT this crap from the Rightie hateosphere. But to see it from a desperate, grasping Democrat whose campaign melted down ALL ON HER OWN between South Carolina and today is just disgusting.

Next attack? Obama claims to have invented the internets. (sic)

Oh, and Happy Birthday, George Washington. Some of us still remember. And still remember that honesty and integrity USED to be American virtues. Right Jake Tapper? Hillary Clinton? Mark Penn? Howard Wolfson?

Courage.

  1. The more I learn about Barak Obama, the more I find reason to vote for him. The more Hillary Clinton opens her mouth, the more I find reason NOT to vote for her. And of course I wouldn’t vote for John McCain, even if his were the only name on the ballot. All of the above points are probably moot, however; I’m still leaning toward Cynthia Ann McKinney.

  2. Mac McFadden

In the primaries: any vote not cast for Obama, makes it easier for Clinton to win.
In the general election: any vote not cast for the Democratic nominee, makes it easier for McCain to win.
Can we survive four more years of Republican Administration?
Are you willing to bet your democracy on it?

  3. NUCLEAR SOULJAH JIHAD — OBAMA CAMPAIGN CRISIS

The Republicans’ disengagement (media bias), if not disillusionment, with the economic campaign issues is borne out by the fact that many more Republicans are able to explain, extinguish, and excoriate the name Barrack Obama with the term (JIHAD), than can name Bush/Dick Cheney and McCain — as the Big Oil — BIG HALLIBURTAN politicians expanding GOP IRAQ WAR ideology, and Republican White House Party Elders’ GI Bill of Rights for the 21st century IRAQ WAR ECONOMY. Even among Tupac Shakur, Bob Marley, Muhammad Ali, Ben Holt, Cotton-Club to Lenox Club- a.k.a. “The Breakfast Club,” Staples Singers In Ghana 1971: “When Will We Get Paid,” Paul Robeson, DMX or Jay-Z . . . excerpts from the infamous Malcolm X speech “The Ballot or the Bullet” inexperienced Obama and conservative Republicans: Clinton is much more visible than GOP presumptive candidate John McCain towards affecting positively the important economic issues facing America’s middle class economy. Next, Speaking at an awards banquet for the Society of Professional Journalists on April 4, “Phoenix New Times” and Village Voice Media Inc. Executive Editor Michael Lacey used the “N-word” to refer to a former colleague who voted for the godless, money-laundering, call-girl-reach-around loving liberal McCain, who collaborated with the Viet Cong, hides a Rx- cyanide pill in his check, and secretly fathered a black child with a Unicorn Crêpe Suzette look-alike, who turned out to become — you guessed it — Barack Obama?

When asked who they would vote for in the general election for president of the United States, the natural pendulum swing in America is approximately 79% of Republicans named Hillary Clinton as their choice. Reasons for Obama’s Campaign Crisis “GLORK” Campaign Crisis include:

No excuses. Sen. Obama accepted more money from oil company executives last month than any other candidate, while he ran an ad saying he didn’t take money from oil companies. Context of ad extends that oil money taken by IL Sen. Barrack Obama from BIG HALIBURTAN spells bad MO-Jo for Obama Campaign Crisis and RX for U.S. stock x-change = VX for U.S. economy. Sen. Obama’s giveaways to the oil industry are not limited to tax breaks. They also include provisions like royalty relief that are worth billions. And many of the tax “increases” are simply extensions of existing taxes that do not impose any additional burden on oil companies. Exactly half of giveaways were not tax provisions. For instance, the oil companies received billions in royalty waivers. Obama voted for Big Oil — BIG HALLIBURTAN Dick Cheney’s 2005 energy bill containing “billions in dollars in giveaways to the oil companies.” [ Ludacris ]
