GOP Smoking-Gun ‘Wright’-Wing Hypocrites

Why didn’t they walk out? On September 17, 2007, less than one week after the 9-11 anniversary, America was damned in front of the GOP candidates — and they sat there and never said word ONE.


Why Should God Bless America? (their title)

When the “Values Voters” coalition had a choir sing a song insulting America as a godless country, why did NO GOP presidential candidate WALK OUT? Why didn’t any of them denounce the sentiment? Why not a peep from ANY of them — unless, of course, they AGREED? ["Host Committee members include Phyllis Schlafly, Paul Weyrich, Don Wildmon, Mat Staver, Rick Scarborough, and Janet Folger."]

The “Reverend Wright/God Damn America” controversy refuses to die.

Well and good. Then, given the high moral tone of the GOP, then let them wallow in their OWN feces. WHY didn’t they walk out? Why can’t they hold themselves to their OWN standard? If what is “wrong” with Rev. Wright is that he said “God Damn America,” then why is this equivalent statement (by a full choir, no less) not EQUALLY offensive?

WHY didn’t these holier-than-thou GOP pricks walk out? Why did they stay, never ONCE complaining that a choir had just said, in essence, “God DAMN America”?

Why didn’t Mike Huckabee walk out? Why didn’t Ron Paul walk out? Or, failing that, why didn’t he at least say: “I don’t believe that America has turned her back on God.” Why didn’t they ONCE attempt to distance themselves from the over-the-top rhetoric that the choir was SINGING to open the GOP candidates’ debate for the “values voters” coalition? Is “Why should God bless America” an American “value”?

No, dammit. They have taken Wright out of context, criticizing the USA for its LEGITIMATE failings, its ofttimes monstrous actions, etc. AS IF AMERICA COULD DO NO WRONG, and that CRITICIZING America in ANY WAY disqualifies the person who might have LISTENED to that criticism (even though Obama wasn’t present for the sermon in question).

So, ALL of the GOP candidates LISTENED to:

And never said a THING. Not a single, solitary PEEP.

Hoist by their own petard if Democrats aren’t so far up their own asses that they ignore this “smoking gun” completely.

Oh. John McCain wasn’t present, just like Barack Obama wasn’t present for the Wright speech. But Obama denounced the Wright statements. McCain has done nothing to distance himself from Janet Folger. And why should he? After all, Folger’s little tete a tete drew such GOP stalwarts as Phyllis Schlafly, “Judge” Roy Moore,

Now: Why didn’t they walk out? And why has John McCain not repudiated Janet Folger?

And here’s flaming hypocrite Joseph Farah of WorldNetDaily, who’s been screaming louder than anybody about the Reverend Wright story (oh, and the “Barack Obama did crack cocaine and had gay sex with me in my limousine” story from allegedly bizarro-land accuser Litigious Larry Sinclair):

So, why are these religious hypocrites beyond the pale of criticism for sitting and applauding essentially the same sentiments that Rev. Wright expressed?

You know the answer: because they control the debate. They have their fingers on the volume control, and, sadly, Democrats are too FRIGGIN’ dim to ever fight back!

A little story from 2004:

That clueless, elitist bastard John Kerry — whose campaign was a model for UN-responsive, deaf, dumb and blind communication with its supporters — was accused in the final weeks of the campaign with a typical Rovian “is he asking for some global test”?

Kerry was under fire by the Bush campaign for this statement from the first debate: “But if and when you do it [protect the United States of America], you have to do it in a way that passes the test, that passes the global test where your countrymen, your people understand fully why you’re doing what you’re doing and you can prove to the world that you did it for legitimate reasons.” After the debate, the Bush campaign presented that statement as evidence that Kerry would allow foreign nations veto power over the country’s national security. Kerry denied that assertion, stating that no nation will have veto power over the security of the United States. In the third debate, Kerry rephrased it as a “truth test.”

Yes. Dumbass that he was, he didn’t even see that the ANSWER to the charge was contained in the FIRST SENTENCE of the Declaration of Independence:

When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.

Slam dunk if he would have used it instead of ham-handedly fumbling the election by giving the Rove Lie Machine control of the non-debate over the non-issue.

But, as one of three founders of Lane County for Kerry (in July 2003), I can tell you that the Kerry Campaign was never responsive, could never be communicated with, never answered email, nor gave us any way of contacting them.

We were, evidently, considered the lackeys to pave that blue-blood bastard’s way to the White House, but weren’t worthy of the time of day from the arrogant prick. When he came to Eugene, he wasn’t going to speak at all, and then, when he DID decide to do a quick morning photo op, we were shown the back of his hand, while the local (useless) Democratic party hacks were quickly called in to populate the photo-op pictures. (None of whom gave much help to Kerry’s fall campaign, by the by).

Kerry relied on a broken and dysfunctional Democratic infrastructure and the results speak for themselves.

We forgave the prick and worked to gain his election anyway. But with the “decent respect to the opinions of mankind” line, we tried desperately for WEEKS to get that to his campaign. Mac McFadden and I even buttonholed Carole King when she came to town, since she had either John or Teresa Heinz Kerry’s cel phone number. We BEGGED her to get the “decent respect” line to Kerry’s campaign. She smiled and promised that she would.

But you know how musicians are. (Toke toke, nod nod, wink wink).

Do I think they got it and decided not to use it?

I doubt it: Its truth seems self-evident.

Kerry could have shoved the Declaration right up Karl Rove’s pustulent ass. No: there was no way to get that information to the campaign, or anyone who might use it. Because they can’t have been THAT brain dead. (Can they?)

The point being: Obama’s people have seemed a lot more interested in actually connecting with us, and one would think that, while not in keeping with the campaign’s focus, certainly surrogates might make use of the hypocrisy, the YouTube video SMOKING GUN of the “values voters” Republicans listening to a choir DAMNING America as a refutation of the scurrilous charges against Rev. Wright and the defamation (not to say racist tar and feathering) of a decent man.

But Democrats will only defend sinless and blameless victims.

Which is why they never defend anybody at all.

Until Democrats grow some balls, and learn to work together, the dominance of the fascist party — the Slanderocracy of the GOP — will continue.

So: Why didn’t any of the GOP candidates walk out? Why didn’t Schlafly walk out? Why didn’t Wildmon walk out? Keyes? Tancredo? Hunter? Paul? Huckabee? Anybody?
