ABC = KKK?
You need to recall something important in the whole “Reverend Jeremiah Wright” “controversy”: ABC’s Brian Ross and his Burka Babes* launched this INTENTIONALLY. They purchased all available sermon tapes and found the sound bite heard ’round the world.
[* BRIAN ROSS, AVNI PATEL and REHAB EL-BURI, see "Barack Obama as Nat Turner" from March 19.]
And when has any preacher to any candidate been accorded this level of scrutiny?
Did Mitt Romney’s entire CHURCH receive this sort of attention? (The MSM and the blogosphere, you might recall, were still very ginger about attacking Mormonism, “magic underwear” notwithstanding).
No: This was an intentional attack on someone ASSOCIATED with a political candidate for reasons that, increasingly, appear to be purely motivated by racial antipathy. And what the HELL is this? If we’re supposed to pay attention to religious “weirdness” in all of this, what is Rehab El-Buri’s part in this, and WHY did Brian Ross draw a Muslim reporter in, specifically to dig dirt on a Christian minister?

Here, listen to ABC reporters, quoting THEIR OWN REPORTS, slyly “editorializing” on Obama, while keeping up the intentional hit job on Wright:
The Note: Jeremiah’s Jeremiad
Wright’s Reemergence Compounds Questions for Obama in Key Stretch
By RICK KLEIN with MIKE ELMORE
April 25, 2008… But: “Left out of the original sound bites broadcast on Good Morning America were Wright’s version of how America was built on terror, his description of the United States ‘as an arrogant, racist, military superpower,’ and comments on the wealth or success of Oprah Winfrey, Colin Power, Condoleezza Rice and Tiger Woods,” ABC’s Brian Ross, Avni Patel, and Rehab El-Buri report.
And Wright offers this judgment of Obama — perhaps the most damaging words from the interview. “He responded as a politician,” Wright said of Obama.
Thanks in part to Wright, Obama is already the star of GOP advertising: Ads have popped up in North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Louisiana, and New Mexico, tying local candidates to Obama and his more controversial associations…. [emphasis added]
You see, ABC’s Brian Ross and his “investigative team” have been caught buttressing Republican talking points before, and haven’t hesitated in lying to do so:
ABC’s Brian Ross Lied to America
By Bob Fertik
Created 02/17/2006 - 8:39pmAs FAIR first reported [1], Brian Ross is a flat-out liar. And he thinks Americans are too utterly stupid to notice. Ross, with the help of Rhonda Schwartz, Hoda Osman and Avni Patel produced a Nightline story [2] (2/15/06) claiming audiotape proof that Saddam hid “information about weapons of mass destruction programs from U.N. inspectors well into the 1990s.”
[...] “We did not reveal all that we have,” Kamel says in the meeting. “Not the type of weapons, not the volume of the materials we imported, not the volume of the production we told them about, not the volume of use. None of this was correct.” [...]
Based on the information provided by Brian Ross & Co., the reader would naturally conclude that Iraq was hiding WMD info at that time - in 1995.
But that is nothing more than a BIG LIE. Why? Because after he defected, Kamel told UN inspectors that all WMD’s were destroyed in 1991 [3]. [...]
From page 13:
All chemical weapons were destroyed. I ordered destruction of all chemical weapons. All weapons—biological, chemical, missile, nuclear—were destroyed.
Kamel issued those orders - and they were carried out - before July 1991, when he resigned from the Baathist Party.
Brian Ross & Co. knew this. But they chose to “hide” that information from their audience - just as they accused Saddam of “hiding” that information from UN inspectors.
In other words, BRIAN ROSS & CO. LIED TO AMERICA….
Now, the same “investigative team” pushed the Wright story — note that Avni Patel is included in the phony WMD story cited above, as well — and, in the wake of Bill Moyers’ interview with Rev. Wright on PBS last night, issued a PRE-EMPTIVE story attacking Wright yet again, just to make sure that their INTENTION in the breaking of the “news story” remained intact:
Rev. Wright Beyond the Bite; See His Context for Yourself
More On Wright’s Controversial Sermons
By BRIAN ROSS, AVNI PATEL and REHAB EL-BURI
April 24, 2008Rev. Jeremiah Wright says his sermons were deliberately taken out of context by the news media “for a political purpose” and to “paint me as some sort of fanatic.”
“When something is taken like a sound bite for a political purpose and constantly over and over again, looped in the face of the public, that’s not a failure to communicate,” he told Bill Moyers in his first interview since ABC News’ “Good Morning America” first broadcast portions of his sermons. [NOTE: Ross is being disingenuous here, in not noting that HE supplied the clips for GMA -- HW] The Moyers interview will be broadcast tomorrow evening on PBS.
Now, WHY would ABC News’ “Investigative team” be so concerned with refuting a defense of their own smear if the facts spoke for themselves? After all, Wright’s character has been smeared across America (if not the planet), by Brian Ross & Co. who have held him up to public ridicule, and yet, when he goes to defend himself, Ross issues this “pre-emptive strike” to discredit Rev. Wright’s defense … BEFORE HE CAN EVEN MAKE IT! Fair? Balanced? Ethical?
Wright says the use of his controversial statements — saying the U.S. brought on the 9/11 attacks and that black Americans should sing “God Damn America” instead of “God Bless America” — were “unfair” and “unjust” and were used “for some very devious reasons.”
Click here to read a fuller version of the two Wright sermons, one from the first Sunday after 9/11, “The Day of Jerusalem’s Fall,” and the other delivered in April 2003, entitled “Confusing God and Government.”
Left out of the original sound bites broadcast on “Good Morning America” were Wright’s version of how America was built on terror, his description of the United States “as an arrogant, racist, military superpower,” and comments on the wealth or success of Oprah Winfrey, Colin Power, Condoleezza Rice and Tiger Woods.

There is no NEWS in this story. There is, rather, “interpretation,” a particularly self-SERVING interpretation at that: ABC characterizes what Wright says, rather than allow HIM to say anything. And picks two sermons, one of which is five years old, and another from seven years ago … carefully cherry-picked by ABC’s “investigative team”?
Isn’t that great. Wright hasn’t yet appeared to defend himself, and Ross and his Burka Babes are piling on. That’s right, make sure that your take on Wright’s ministry is confined to the two transcript segments that Brian Ross’s “investigative team” (who now have a vested interest in demonizing Wright, if only to protect their “scoop”) and nothing from Wright himself. The victim of ABC is not allowed an opportunity to comment by ABC. How “fair” is that? Indeed, ABC’s stories are intended to torpedo any defense offered by Wright IN ADVANCE!
Ironically, the PBS interview with Bill Moyers was Wright’s FIRST CHANCE to address his slanderers on national television (compare PBS viewership with ABC viewership) since the original ABC “hit piece” was issued. Brian Ross, in his haste to smear the Black preacher, his church, his congregation and, by implication, Barack Obama, HAS NEVER OFFERED WRIGHT OPPORTUNITY FOR COMMENT!
The ad is built around the well-known video clip of the Rev. Jeremiah Wright Jr. — Mr. Obama’s former pastor — declaring “God damn America.” We have said before that we find Rev. Wright’s oratory racist. And we have criticized Senator Obama for waiting too long to denounce it. His relationship with the Rev. Wright is undeniably a liability for his campaign.
But that’s not what this ad is about. The assertion that Mr. Obama is “just too extreme for North Carolina” is a clear bid to stir bigotry in a Southern state. The ad’s claim that its target is actually two Democratic gubernatorial candidates who endorsed Mr. Obama is ludicrous. [emphasis added]
Yeah, as is the NYT claiming that Wright is a “racist” and crowing about how they’ve denounced him.
When you can get normally sane people to buy into your monstrous argument as a way of sounding (they think) “reasonable” — that’s half the battle. ALL of the racists and GOP’ers (if that’s not redundant) scream the Wright is a Racist meme. Having self-styled “reasonable” idiots like the NYT only hides the fundamental truth that it is a LIE. Worse, it is a lie cooked up to smear Obama racially without having to scream the secretly desired, but dreaded: OBAMA IS A NIGGER! (And every time a “reasonable” progressive buys into it, an angel weeps.)
Will no one call this racist bullshit ‘racist bullshit’?
Or is it GOP=KKK again, for another election cycle?
You know: the fact that this year’s “Willie Horton” is always a black man is just a complete coincidence.
Yeah. Right. Sure.
Somewhere, Brian Ross dreams of burning crosses on “Democrat” lawns.
Democrats of a certain “color,” that is.
Courage.
