Sometimes, it seems like, as with the Red Queen, it takes all the running you can do just to stay in place:

The Queen propped her up against a tree, and said kindly, `You may rest a little now.’

Alice looked round her in great surprise. `Why, I do believe we’ve been under this tree the whole time! Everything’s just as it was!’

`Of course it is,’ said the Queen, `what would you have it?’

`Well, in our country,’ said Alice, still panting a little, `you’d generally get to somewhere else — if you ran very fast for a long time, as we’ve been doing.’

`A slow sort of country!’ said the Queen. `Now, here, you see, it takes all the running you can do, to keep in the same place.

If you want to get somewhere else, you must run at least twice as fast as that!’

Inferno:

Just as I had begun this podcasting dealeo, I received the following email from my storage provider (the one I’ve been signed up with for the past three years in anticipation of this need), dated April 18:

Hello MediaMax customer:

We have some exciting news to share! We will be launching a major upgrade to MediaMax this month. With this release, we’re going to be renaming our service to **** … supports all of the current functionality of MediaMax, but also has some exciting new features.

So much for prudence. Or …

Aaaaaaaaaaaaargh!

Fine. They wanna make a buck, and that’s fine by me. (It’s just TERRIBLE timing.)

We proceed, un-Dante’d by this pointless piffle.

Purgatorio:

So, I found ANOTHER online provider (50 GB of free storage — as opposed to MediaMax’s mingy, stingy 25 GB) and then came the technical details. I installed two new sound cards. I invested in some flash memory, so I could take produced files from my NON-internet (best firewall of all) production computer to this dedicated internet computer for upload.

Only one problem: the production computer’s USB ports are in the BACK of the machine, and there is NO WAY that one can plug the USB flash memory module into the back, short of becoming Harry Houdini.

What to do? Of course: USB docking hub. Now, where is wife with car?

(Saturday completely shot. Shows up after store closes.)

Paradiso:

Spend Saturday mastering and mixing the podcast, complete with soundtracking and fun music drops to enhance your podreceiving pleasure.

Soundcard installed.

USB card works.

Flash memory works.

Hosting upload and filesharing works.

And all is well, finally.

No help from Beatrice, though.

(Doggone that flighty chick, anyway.)

Important to remain Dante-less.
