It’s fascinating how a legitimate point that I made yesterday can reflect in the funhouse mirror of psychotic GOP hate-blogging. To wit:
It’s about 28 years of Republican misrule by bullying, mud-slinging, septic-tank diving, lying us into wars as a MARKETING tool for wholesale theft, etcetera, ad nauseum.
We ought to remember that no matter WHAT Michelle Obama ever said, this is about a party so toxic that even old “maverick” John McCain has been forced to repudiate each and every position that he ever held as a “maverick” and kiss the ring if he wants to have ANY chance of winning. A party so toxic that torture victim John McCain has been prevailed upon to repudiate his REPUDIATION of torture, a fact as grimly evil as watching a man who’s been shot in the FACE by a probably drunken Vice President APOLOGIZING for putting his face in the way of Cheney’s shotgun.
You can’t counterbalance that…. This is OUR debate about OUR country. Not the sick fantasies of a criminal conspiracy called the Greedy Oil Party.

Obama vs McCain: there are issues, and then there are fake issues
Real issue:
At the Official Obama Site: ‘The Israeli Connection to 9/11′
At the Official Obama Site: ‘Jemaah Islamiyah For Obama’. What is Jemaah Islamiyah? Take a look.
And At the Official Obama Site: ‘How the Jewish Lobby Works’, a post which was removed today
And guess what? They’re also now blocking Google’s cache from saving their pages. And they’ve also removed their pages from the Internet Archive and the Coral archives.
They’re running scared, and they’re trying to make sure that when they throw a post down the memory hole, it stays there.
Fake issue:
The wife U.S. Republican John McCain callously left behind.
The UK’s Mail is not keeping track of what goes up on the Obama website. Instead The Mail thinks that McCain’s divorce from twenty-eight years ago shows him to be “a man who is unusually slick and cruel”.
And who says so, pray tell? The first Mrs. McCain? No.
His children? No.
Ross Perot says so.
You just can’t make this stuff up.*
[* Ah yes, the condescending, "I'm so much smarter than you, because being a Konservative Kreep, I am AUTOMATICALLY brilliant, and, therefore, anything that I dislike can be dismissed with "You can't make this stuff up." Sure you can. You do it all the damned time!]

Let’s see how many fallacies we can spot. Well, right off, it’s the old “guilt by free association” meme that was tracked about commenters at DailyKos. For the NON-moronic among us, the Obama site is set up as a socially interactive site, and lots of people post lots of opinions there.
But, the slithery implication of our serpent is that Obama is responsible for EVERYTHING that anyone says on his site, just like Obama is responsible for anything that Reverend Wright ever said.*
Oh, never mind the current Rovian Spinner Lure about splitting the Jews and Blacks. (Remember they can ONLY win using divide and conquer. Even when they were a “majority” the Republicans were never a majority. Think of how many black voters they had to purge from the Florida lists to “win” the 2000 election.)
It’s the old “guilt by free association,” even more tenuous than linking Khaddafy through Farrakhan to Wright to Obama. That’s the “real” issue.
But John McCain’s shameful and horrific behavior to his first wife when he got home from Vietnam? His running around with other women until he decided on ex-Rodeo Queen millionaire’s daughter Cindy isn’t much talked about, but when you consider that he married Cindy McCain a month after divorcing his first wife, Carol, you wouldn’t suppose that he was running around with those OTHER women while he was a married man, and being shuttled around the country as a “hero” talking to grade school and high school students, would you? Naw.
The wife U.S. Republican John McCain callously left behind — Now that Hillary Clinton has at last formally withdrawn from the race for the White House, the eyes of America and the world will focus on Barack Obama and his Republican rival Senator John McCain….
I mean, that’s being a hero in anybody’s book, right? And we haven’t learned that character DOES matter, and that George W. Bush is still the same snotty, fraternity bully that he was before he got “religion,” right? But suddenly it doesn’t matter, because McCain’s sanctified ass is Republican?*

I would even venture to say that is possibly the main reason why so many Democrats are in Obama's camp, instead of Hillary's: they learned from the Clintons that the Clintons are not to be trusted.
Character and personal beliefs permeate every action and decision a person makes. They are not "distractions". To the contrary, they are signposts directing you to what road they will take.

Why is it McCain’s character not an issue? Because “Fausta” says so. No: what’s an issue is that someone posted something that somebody didn’t like about Israel on Obama’s “official” campaign website (pushing the Rovian Spinner meme of “Obama HATES JEWS!” which I’m sure you’ve noticed in the past few weeks, and here’s today’s fakey Rightie blogswarm on the “issue”). That’s an issue. (I fear that Fausta may have confused the term “issue” with “talking point.”)
That means WHAT?
And why?
Because Fausta said so.
I say that Fausta is full of shit.
But I have some actual evidence to back that opinion up, by contrast.
As are the Greedy Old Perverts ALL full of it, because that’s all they have left, and all they have left to throw. Somebody posted something on Obama’s website: Therefore, Obama is … what? (They tried this one on DailyKos a few months back. Evidently even the GOP Hate Machine is in Summer Reruns.)
And WHY is that an “issue” but John McCain’s actual, reprehensible behavior — behavior that the Entire Rovian Spinner Tacklebox would have a field day with for weeks if by a Democrat — well, so McCain’s behavior ISN’T an issue?
At least they’re consistent. You never heard a more pious pack of hypocrites squealing “Rule of Law!” when Clinton was in the White House, but these Super Patriots, these Defenders of Liberty and, yes, the “Rule of Law”s self-anointed guardians don’t seem to care whether laws are broken or not when THEIR guy is in office.
And how do they justify it? Because CLINTON did such and such (which they were against) therefore it’s OK for them to be FOR BUSH doing worse?
And if a non-issue about Obama is a real issue, but a real issue about John McCain is a “fake” issue, even though she lays out WHY McCain’s character would be a VITAL issue … if he weren’t a Republican, well….
Gad, what lying hypocrites these serpents be.
Now, a brief interlude of Latin.
Fausta’s Latin motto, Faustam fortuna adiuvat translates as “Fortune favors the bold.”
Which is almost, but not quite the same as my personal motto: fortes fortuna juvat, “Fortune favors the brave.”
It is a subtle but meaningful difference. Perhaps the difference that explains how I can note the difference between substance and fluff, and Fausta can only differentiate between Republican fluff and Democratic fluff — Ideology über alles. Even vision, evidently.
Which is a dangerous sort of myopia. So, really, Fausta’s TRUE Latin motto OUGHT to be:
Recedite, plebes! Gero rem imperialem! – “Stand aside plebeians! I am on imperial business.“
Or, perhaps more aptly:
Caesar si viveret, ad remum dareris — “If Caesar were alive, you’d be chained to an oar.“
Still, what I would finally say to Fausta and every other Rovian Spinner works fine in either Latin or English:
Caput tuum in ano est – “You have your head up your ass.“
