But the heat seems to have driven rightie bloggers mad.
The Right Wing Blogosmear™ has its collective panties in a Gordian Knot over the latest hurricane in a shot glass: Barack Obama’s birth certificate is (Sit down. Hold on to something. Get out your Vince Foster™ Official Conspiracy 3D Glasses) a FRAUD!
Here, from the IsraelInsider Blog (ghod help us all) is what is alleged to be a gun, which they claim might be smoking (or at least chewing):
Blogger admits Hawaii birth certificate forgery, subverting Obama claims
By Israel Insider staff July 3, 2008
… The evidence of forgery and manipulation of images of official documents, triggered by Israel Insider’s revelation of the collection of Hawaii birth certificate images on the Photobucket site and the diligent detective work of independent investigative journalists (led by JimJ and Texas Darling) and imaging professionals such as Polarik in the three weeks since the publication of the images, implicate The Daily Kos, a “progressive” blog site, and the Obama campaign’s “Fight the Smears” website, in misleading the public with official-looking but manipulated document images of doubtful provenance. Moreover, the blog and the campaign have been negligent in allowing the promotion of obviously forged and fake official documents together with the purported image of Obama’s birth certificate.
ORIGINS OF THE SUSPECT IMAGE ON DAILY KOS …
Dig them karaaazy experts” names. Who wouldn’t accept the documentary analysis of someone called “Texas Darling”? After all anonymous accusers carry so much weight. You just KNOW they’re honest.
And the yowling rabble push it to the top of Memeorandum:
I think you might recognize that several — The Swamp is the Tribune‘s Washington Bureau blog, and WhiskeyFire’s take is hilarious — have a certain reputation for credibility, moderation and non-partisan sobriety, yes? (That reputation being that they’re the relentless, implacable arch-enemies of those qualities.)
(Gosh, gee whillikers Captain Freedom! Why do I feel so déjà vuey?)
And what is the incredible IMPACT of all this? Right Wing News provides the answer.
… More importantly, there is no proof that Barack Obama is a natural born citizen of the United States of America.
That means there is no proof that Barack Obama is elegible to be president.
If Barack Obama’s campaign is being honest about his citizenship — and there’s no guarantee that it is, given the fact that it has already proferred a forged birth certificate as evidence — if the Obama campaign is being honest, then this is an easy enough matter to resolve.
If Barack Obama does not produce his original, paper birth certificate within one week, he should be presumed not to be eligible for the presidency of the United States of America.
Please, someone quick, tell me, aren’t these the same people who dismissed the very REAL issue of Dick Cheney’s Texas residency in 2000? (And the subsequent rewriting of Wyoming records so that Cheney was mysteriously returned to his boyhood residency near — proving that the Great Sky Being has an acute and ironic sense of humor — Teapot Dome, Wyoming, thus avoiding the Constitutional provision that stated the president and vice president couldn’t be from the same state? ‘Pish posh,’ quoth they. ‘Liberal dunderheadedness, and isn’t that a dead Vince Foster™ over there across the street?’)
Oh, wait. These are Republicans. The ones who protested that Rush had merely become addicted to a PRESCRIPTION drug, and wasn’t therefore, subject to the same penalties that they and Rush agreed on for dope fiends. The ones who screamed about the “Rule of Law” in the case of a blow job but kept their mouths closed and their tongues still during the invasion of a sovereign nation without provocation, about torture, about extra-territorial detention, about secret prisons that flouted the rules of torture by passing off to countries that COULD, the wholesale illegal wiretapping of Americans, the firing of Pentagon auditors, rather than reveal the amount of looting going on by contractors, the brazen attempt, this week, to RETROACTIVELY pardon (give immunity to) telecoms who illegally handed OVER phone records and assisted in wiretapping … because the criminal president TOLD them to?
Are you freaking KIDDING me?
It’s not guilt by association; it’s not even guilt by free association: it’s now guilt by hallucination.
Soon they will be protesting, in great numbers, that if Obama has so many bloggers protesting against him, clearly he must have done something wrong.
Something or other.
UPDATE: 2:12 PM PDT Sunday 07-06: The Corner at the National Review Online gingerly dips their toe in the conspiracy pool, then issues this non-repudiation repudiation:
… Is there anything to this?
ADDENDUM: I should add to the above that I am not a conspiracy theorist. My predisposition on the many stories floating around about Obama and his circle is to ignore them on the following theory: If there was really anything to this or that, the Clintons would have found it and gotten their media friends all over it….
And then the writer shifts gears again: well, shucks, MAYBE — indicating that they are embarrassed to be associated with the Trivial Pursuit®ors, BUT, if it should turn into something, well, the door’s open and the phone is on the hook. Crazy from the heat. [Thanks to Crooks & Liars for the mention!]
UPDATE 4:09 PM PDT, Sunday: Looks like the jig is up. The Rightie Blogosmear is claiming snarky defeat. Whoops!
The Obama “Forged Birth Certificate” Myth Is Busted

Welcome Hot Air and Little Green Footballs Readers
May I suggest much more important topics such as Our Pending Victory In Iraq, The Determination Of Our Soldiers To Succeed In Iraq, Obama’s Flip-Flops, and Nagging Problems On Flight 93 Memorial. This birth certificate myth is just not that import (sic) Addendum: I failed to note LJStrata (the computer guru behind the curtain here at that Strata-Sphere) was the one who put me onto the anti-aliasing lead. – end update
Days ago I looked into the forged Obama Birth Certificate Myth and realized it was all BS. Basically, we have a lot of people running around making mistakes and then trying to pretend revelations that destroyed their first claims are exposing other, new issues. All I see are people making wild claims, being proved wrong, and then moving onto new wild claims – to be proved wrong again. As proof of this pattern let me point to one of these ‘experts’ who did a poor job of examining the documents in the first place, a person called Polirak over at Town Hall…
And so it goes.
