And call me “Boo.”
The worthless shitballs of the Whiney Right have no more sense than God gave a jackass. But still they persist in their endless quest to emulate their hero, Robert E. Lee ‘Bob’ Ewell. (From Harper Lee’s book and the film To Kill a Mockingbird). A typical Bob Ewell quote:

Bob Ewell: I’m real sorry they picked you to defend that nigger that raped my Mayella. I don’t know why I didn’t kill him myself instead of goin’ to the sheriff. That would have saved you and the sheriff and the taxpayers lots of trouble…
You think that’s harsh? That’s what they’d LIKE to say. But, instead, today’s meme is that Obama is “arrogant,” with Carol Costello on Wolf Blitzer’s execrable “Situation Room” using the old Faux Nooz character assassination trick of sliming anonymously with “some people say.” And it came straight from the McCain campaign’s talking points.
Yeah, well a worthless asswipe like Costello’s got a lot of nerve calling ANYbody “arrogant.” Costello is, herself, an errant arrogant airhead, the preponderance of evidence suggests. And CNN has basically stuck itself into the toilet and hit the “flush” handle: Faux Nooz Lite™ — if such can be imagined.
Let’s see, what was the statement? That the people showing up in Europe were responding to something “bigger than just me.”
Self-deprecation turns to arrogance.
Bob Ewell: What kinda man are you?
Or, to quote Shakespeare (a writer that none of these retards have ever read, no doubt) from Macbeth (act i, scene i):
The Witches (all):
Fair is foul, and foul is fair:
Hover through the fog and filthy air.
A more elegant description of the rightie hate machine could not be got, for all the lead paint in China. These syphilitic chancres on the scrotum of Satan have been following the demonic Rovian prescription, learned from the Nixon dirty tricks gang of turning one’s opponent’s greatest strength into a weakness.
With John Kerry, it was his honorable military service in Vietnam. Suddenly Purple Hearts and Silver Stars became totems of phony elitism, fake medals cheated from the Navy by a pampered elitist who wind-surfed and looked “French.”
Salaud! Tête de merde!
Encore une bonne opportunité pour chier sur tout ce qui est Américain.

The outline of the MCCain campaign has changed significantly, as every bloviating talking head on TeeVee has been regurgitating all the live long day. But no one, seemingly, has managed to put two and two together.
Two rapid-fire McCain ads appeared, attacking Obama for cancelling a visit to wounded troops in Germany*
[* which the scrofulous Michael Goldfarb had been chauvinistically defending on the Official McCain Blog -- of whom MSNBC tends to "blog-bite" a lot I will note -- and today had posted 11 allegedly phony "excuses" the Obama campaign had mad, until the blog "capitulated," late today with this:
Earlier today, we conceded there was no evidence that Senator Obama canceled his visit with the troops simply because the media was not be allowed to accompany him.
Which certainly isn't reflected in the blog, because no such statement appears on the blog. Oh, and then he returns to the meme:
... but we know that the campaign was at least considering sending a reporter with him, and when the Pentagon said that wouldn't be allowed, he decided against making the visit. It seems fair to ask whether Obama canceled because he'd been denied another spectacular photo-op on a trip that was about nothing but photo-ops.
Goldfarb sounding EXACTLY like he did when hyper-parsing Private Beauchamp's "Baghdad Diary" into a military investigation and a media smear of The New Republic, finally, with pressure on the Canadian ownership of the parent corporation to spank TNR for having published it. Goldfarb is a thug, make no mistake, and with the addition of the Rovian disciple (Steve Schmidt, more below) to RUN the McCain campaign, the outlines are becoming all too clear.]
Rupert Murdoch’s bottom-feeding New York Post followed up on the talking point today with:
O’S TOUR DE FARCE — PHOTO OPS & FECKLESSNESS — TERMED a “learning” trip, Sen. Barack Obama’s eight- day tour of eight nations in the Middle East and Europe turned out to be little more than a series of photo ops to enhance his international credentials.
Are you KIDDING me? Since WHEN have the Righties been against photo-ops?
Didn’t Reagan sort of invent them with his “it doesn’t matter what you say about the environment as long as it’s in front of the Grand Canyon”? And don’t we all remember the “Mission Accomplished” photo-op? Or the movie lights, portable generators and 8-block buffer zone so that Bush could make a mis-buttoned “address” from New Orleans? Good fucking Christ. These weasels never sleep.
Followed today or yesterday by an ad accusing Obama of being famous and a “celebrity” like Britney Spears or Paris Hilton.
Really?
Yeah, really. Goldfarb Officially Blogging for McCain again:
Posted at 2:01 PM on 7/30/2008 by Michael GoldfarbTo: Interested Parties
From: Rick Davis, McCain Campaign Manager*
Date: July 30, 2008
Re: Barack Obama’s CelebrityBarack Obama is the biggest celebrity in the world, comparable to Tom Cruise, Britney Spears and Paris Hilton. As he told Congressional Democrats yesterday, he has become the “symbol” for the world’s aspirations for America and that we are now at “the moment … that the world is waiting for.”Only a celebrity of Barack Obama’s magnitude could attract 200,000 fans in Berlin who gathered for the mere opportunity to be in his presence. These are not supporters or even voters, but fans fawning over The One. Only celebrities like Barack Obama go to the gym three times a day, demand “MET-RX chocolate roasted-peanut protein bars and bottles of a hard-to-find organic brew — Black Forest Berry Honest Tea” and worry about the price of arugula.
Yet, despite all of the fans, paparazzi and media adoration, the American people still have questions: Is Barack Obama prepared to lead? Is being famous the same as being a credible commander in chief? … (there’s more, nauseatingly so.)
“The One”? Oh dear Ghod.
But what about Rick Davis, campaign manager? Politico:
… After a disappointing first-quarter fundraising effort, McCain put two lobbyists — Tom Loeffler and Wayne Berman — in charge of raising cash for his campaign. This week, after burning through campaign cash in the second quarter, he moved another lobbyist — Richard Davis — into the role of campaign manager… Davis is a particularly easy target, having several money-related scandals in his background. A veteran of the Reagan administration, Davis ran McCain’s presidential bid six years ago. He also founded a lobbying firm — Davis, Manafort Inc. — which has made at least $2.8 million lobbying Congress since 1998.
Over the past eight years, Davis’ two roles often overlapped. In 1999, while he was McCain’s campaign manager, his firm represented SBC Communications Inc. and Comsat Corp. At that time, both communications companies had controversial mergers pending at the Federal Communications Commission. The Senate Commerce Committee has legislative authority over the FCC, and McCain was chairman of that committee. Both mergers were eventually approved….
And the campaign’s attack on Obama as Paris Hilton?
Now, that’s obviously the new Rovian strategem, and you will recall that a Rove disciple was brought on board with the McCain campaign just a week or so ago, to take over that campaign.
According to the Chicago Tribune’s blog, The Swamp:
The New York Times‘ Adam Nagourney had some useful details about the change …
[...]
Mr. Schmidt’s elevation is the latest sign of increasing influence of veterans of Mr. Rove’s campaign efforts in the McCain operation. Nicolle Wallace, who was communications director for Mr. Bush in the 2004 campaign and in his White House, has joined the campaign as a senior adviser, and will travel with Mr. McCain every other week. Greg Jenkins, another veteran of Mr. Rove’s operation, has joined the McCain communications operation.
The ascendance of more Rovians in the McCain people reminds me of something I once heard Wayne Slater, a Dallas Morning News reporter who co-wrote a book on Rove called “Bush’s Brain” say. Slater said that Rove had trained so many Republican operatives in his strategies and methods that if he were to get hit by a bus, it would have little effect, the next generation of Rovians were ready to take over. And so they are.
So, why doesn’t the bloviation demographic “get” it?
Er, because they’re dumb fucking assholes who are so convinced that they know it all, that they don’t bother paying attention, which is how anybody knows ANYthing.*
[* It saddens me to think that my generation -- who came of age during Watergate, and who FILLED the journalism schools to overflowing in an attempt to be the next Woodward and Bernstein -- is now coming of age in the newsrooms of America, and, what do we get? Tony Snows. The newspaper business is collapsing, just as they hit their early 50s and start moving up to the senior editorial positions within the hierarchy and it's crumbling, but isn't that a fit punishment? For having produced the most embarrassing, unprofessional journalistic coverage and investigation of the most corrupt Administration since Tea Pot Dome? What the hell happened to all those budding Dustin Hoffman and Robert Redford wannabes with typewriters? How sad a commentary on the post-Watergate kids. An embarrassing generation to have, thus far, entered the bloodstream of history with.]
The Rove disciple takes over McCain’s campaign, and suddenly it’s Barack Obama as Paris Hilton. What’s not to get?

Bob Ewell: You nigger lover.
Atticus Finch: [to Jem] No need to be afraid of him, son. He’s all bluff.
[after they get home]
Atticus Finch: There’s a lot of ugly things in this world, son. I wish I could keep ‘em all away from you. That’s never possible.
Er, that dialogue and the use of the “N” word might repulse you, but ask yourself, is it any MORE repulsive than essentially saying that Senator Obama is Paris Hilton?
How does a black senator from Illinois compare with a spoiled rich white girl whose original claim to fame was giving Rick Saloman a blow job in the “private” sex film that was the biggest X-rated film of 2003?*
[* Wikipedia: A four-year-old homemade sex video of Hilton and then-boyfriend Rick Salomon was leaked on the Internet in 2003, later released as the DVD 1 Night in Paris despite attempted legal action. It appeared a week prior to the premiere of The Simple Life.]
So, Obama is the same as the unembarrassed heiress who shot to fame for fucking and sucking on camera?
That’s not utterly reprehensible?
Nope. Bloviating heads yak on and on and on. As, even in the fictional world of Atticus Finch in To Kill a Mockingbird, Bob Ewell rages at the fringes of society, while everyone tries to avoid him, if they can. They ignore the Bob Ewell nature of this campaign, and the abusive Bob Ewell slant that an increasingly desperate corporate thugocracy behind McCain is feeling.
That same John McCain who was going to run a “respectful” campaign, remember? Here’s a campaign memo from March 11, when McCain “sewed up” the GOP nomination, from that selfsame Rick Davis who’s calling Obama a “Paris Hilton” up above and sneering at him as “The One”:
To: Campaign Leadership
From: Rick Davis
Subject: McCain Message
Date: 3/11/2008John McCain is now the presumptive nominee of the Republican Party. It is critical, as we prepare to face off with whomever the Democrats select as their nominee, that we all follow John’s lead and run a respectful campaign focused on the issues and values that are important to the American people.
Throughout the primary election we saw John McCain reject the type of politics that degrade our civics, and this will not change as he prepares to run head-to-head against the Democratic nominee.
John McCain will continue to run on his principles and will focus on the future of our country. The stakes could not be higher in this election, and John will contrast his vision for America with that of Senators Clinton and Obama. He will draw sharp contrasts: victory versus surrender to Islamic extremism; lower taxes and spending versus more big government; free-market solutions to health care versus costly mandates; and the appointment of strict constructionist judges versus those who legislate from the bench.
Overheated rhetoric and personal attacks on our opponents distract from the big differences between John McCain’s vision for the future of our nation and the Democrats’. This campaign is about John McCain: his vision, leadership, experience, courage, service to his country and ability to lead as commander in chief from day one.
Throughout his life John McCain has held himself to the highest standards and he will continue to run a respectful campaign based on the issues. We expect that all supporters, surrogates and staff will hold themselves to similarly high standards when they are representing the campaign. To help guide you, please find talking points below.
OK. Bob Ewell is now OUT of his Sunday-go-to-meeting clothes and ready to lynch the uppity nigger.
And you notice the snark on Obama is that he’s essentially UPPITY. How DARE he go to an Ivy League school? How DARE he run against creepy old John McCain and his Rodeo Queen wife, the ex-pain killer junkie? How dare he … well, the sense of OUTRAGE that any Democrat would dare run against the Republicans and their 27-year record of glorious achievement would be the same no matter who the psychos were running against.
Why SHOULDN’T we quote Bob Ewell? Isn’t that, fundamentally, what they’re REALLY saying?
Oh, asswipes like Tucker Carlson argue that it isn’t because he’s BLACK, they’d do it to ANY candidate.
And the bloviating heads never ask: BUT ISN’T IT JUST AS BAD TO TREAT ANY HUMAN BEING THE WAY YOU BIGOTED ASSHOLES DO?
The answer is as obvious as the question, and both scare the bloviating class shitless.*
[* I'd say "witlesss" but there is no evidence that "wit" ever existed within the bloviating class, and, therefore, its absence becomes a meaningless metaphysical oxymoron, like "dehydrated water."]
Because, having taken the “nigger” out the equation, they can still do everything that Bob Ewell would have done, as long as they just avoid … the word.
IF WE LET THEM.
As if the “Paris Hilton” comparison isn’t just as creepy (and terminally weird: how can one possibly compare a black man who came up from poor circumstances with a spoiled WHITE BLOND hotel heiress — seriously, folks! –who shot to fame via what seems a very sophisticated “plant” of her sex tape, which has made a gazillion dollars and Paris Hilton an “author” and a “musician” to boot. Hell, she didn’t even play the skin flute all that well, frankly) as using the “N” word repeatedly and emphatically would be.
Get real.
But you do what works, and in a changed America, the same catcalls, the same low, gutter slander, the same vile vituperation and bigoted rumor-mongering (e.g. Obama is a Muslim — as if religious bigotry were any more tolerable than racial bigotry, but religious bigotry runs rampant on the Rightie side, and NOBODY says a goddam word about it, LEAST of all the bloviating class!) DOESN’T cut the cheese anymore. Or so we hope.
The old hate has got to go. And the haters need to pay for their vile utterances, if only by social ostracization, and lots and lots of sniggering in their general direction (hopefully, downwind).
So out of touch are they that McCain’s solution to the energy crisis is “offshore drilling” and “fifty new nuclear plants.” And none of them even see how fundamentally WEIRD those proposals are, if you want to “move to the middle,” as Rick Davis told the Center for Public Integrity in an interview for their excellent Buying of the President investigative series in 2007 :
John [McCain]’s not a polarizing candidate. John is a unifying candidate. John will move into the center and occupy space that he otherwise would want to himself. So I think he [Bloomberg] won’t run if John gets the nomination … there is this huge opportunity in the center of America in politics.
Well, so much for that. If you’ve been following closely, John McCain has shown himself to be a man who will sell out any belief that he has, in order to win this election. He’s reversed himself on so many things that the old Kerry/Romney flip-flopper sandals need to come back out of mothballs, because, finally we have a candidate TRULY worthy of them. The man who was against torture — because he HIMSELF had been tortured for five years — reversed himself and is now in favor of it.
Does anything more need be said about McCain’s “character”?
And, the Schmidt/Goldfarb axis of evil that this campaign begins to spin on is really just nasty, hateful old Bob Ewell, who hates niggers almost as much as everybody else hates him. Really: Obama is Paris Hilton and Britney Spears. And Rick Davis, Michael Goldfarb and Steve Schmidt are what I see, after I’ve wiped my ass, but before I’ve flushed my toilet. It isn’t any more sophisticated than that. These greedy, amoral bastards will say ANYTHING to win, do ANYTHING to win, and need to be stopped BY ANY MEANS from winning.
Of course, as usual, the lying, thieving bastards believe that they are utterly moral.
Nothing could be further from the truth.
The other night, from cares exempt,
I slept–and what d’you think I dreamt?
I dreamt that somehow I had come
To dwell in Topsy-Turveydom -Where vice is virtue–virtue, vice:
Where nice is nasty–nasty, nice:
Where right is wrong and wrong is right -
Where white is black and black is white….
– from “The Dream” by William S. Gilbert (of “Gilbert & Sullivan”) ,
FIFTY “BAB” BALLADS–MUCH SOUND AND LITTLE SENSE, 1884
Of course, as in To Kill A Mockingbird, just because they’ve evil and murderous doesn’t mean that they won’t get their way in destroying another person’s life. It is only by the grace of God and Boo Radley that worthless Bob Ewell meets his end, appropriately enough, as he attempts to molest a CHILD.
And, sadly, the comparison between the fictional villain and these ACTUAL villains is all too apt, metaphorically. Can’t live with ‘em; can’t shoot ‘em legally.
Yet.
(Suck on that one, Hannity. I’ll explain it in short little words, so that you won’t cry and wet your pants.)
Because the social contract that we entered into — to debate, to resolve, to compromise in a form of self-government last laid out in the Constitution, but previously laid out in the Articles of Confederation, and in the Declaration — has been utterly abrogated by these merchants of hatred, racism, misogyny, religious intolerance and anti-Robin Hoodism.
Which means that legally shooting them isn’t all that far away, IF they manage to destroy the social contract altogether.
America needs a change, all right. It needs a whole lot of citizens OUT of our prisons and a whole lot of these worthless bastards INTO the recently vacated cells.

There will always be Bob Ewells, and, hopefully, there will always be Atticus Finches to shoot rabid dogs, when necessary. This foaming-at-the-mouth by the Righties is a well-known precursor to a more serious condition and its necessary “treatment.” (Think of Old Yeller.)
That’s about it. Well, maybe one more thing:
Davis said this in that 2007 Center for Public Integrity interview, too, with unintended irony:
I think people are learning in this campaign process that you do not get any benefit for trying to do the right thing. The measure of the McCain campaign, to me, has a very negative impact on trying to accomplish good for the country. Because that’s basically the campaign he’s running. And he’s not getting any credit for it. And if he goes down, it will be seen as repudiation and playing politics and doing the expedient thing to further your career, and your party’s grip on the country is going to be seen as the norm.
Uh-huh.

Courage.
