The Founding Father (GOP Version)
This was not meant to be a trilogy.* But the Republicans have released their 21-page “A Pledge to America” (Contract on America, Mark II).
[* The "What" Trilogy, I guess:
I present the important section of the “Pledge To America”, with commentary:

Pachydermous Pledgers pledging
In a self-governing society, the only bulwark against the power of the state is the consent of the governed, and regarding the policies of the current government, the governed do not consent.
Uh, I think that just because you don’t agree with the current government and lost the last election does NOT meet the Founding Fathers threshold … from the Declaration of Independence, which specifically rejects this whining:
Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed.
Now, listen to the clueless gall of these liars, as they posit the following WITHOUT any sense of irony or self-awareness:
An unchecked executive, a compliant legislature, and an overreaching judiciary have combined to thwart the will of the people and overturn their votes and their values, striking down long-standing laws and institutions and scorning the deepest beliefs of the American people.

‘scorning the deepest beliefs of the American people’
or, Mount Hushmore
I didn’t know they were running against Bush and the Rehnquist Court!
An arrogant and out-of-touch government of self-appointed elites makes decisions, issues mandates, and enacts laws without accepting or requesting the input of the many.

Can you say “Dick Cheney”?

Rising joblessness, crushing debt, and a polarizing political environment are fraying the bonds among our people and blurring our sense of national purpose. Like free peoples of the past, our citizens refuse to accommodate a government that believes it can replace the will of the people with its own. The American people are speaking out, demanding that we realign our country’s compass with its founding principles and apply those principles to solve our common problems for the common good. The need for urgent action to repair our economy and reclaim our government for the people cannot be overstated.
These are the same compliant and complicit enablers who passed the Patriot Act, who tried to intervene CONGRESSIONALLY in the Terry Schiavo case, and have plunged us in two bankrupting wars (at least one illegal), all the while suggesting that it was unpatriotic to question their trillion-dollar war debt, and absurd tax cuts for the wealthy backers of Bush that added … about a trillion dollars to the national debt.

This is an impressive crowd — the haves and the have-mores. Some people call you the elites; I call you my base. ~ George W. Bush
And yet, without any sense of shame whatsoever, they claim that President Obama is the next Stalin, or Hitler — and hint at revolution — while carefully distancing themselves from the Bush Administration of a mere 18 months ago, AS IF they had not aided, abetted and been strident cheerleaders FOR it.
Unbelievable.

Just jaw-dropping, dumbfounding, stare-in-utter-disbelief non-sequitur. To read this is to cause the intellectual equivalent of the dead silence at the family reunion just after grandma let out an involuntary, loud, impossible-to-ignore fart.

In the face of utter cluelessness, one is shocked into dumbfounded silence. At least Granny’s indiscretion can be turned, eventually, into fondly-tinged nostalgia. This?
The lack of self-awareness, the utter shamelessness of this will cause their descendants to deny any knowledge of them for generations to come. The racist party who opposed the first Black President in American history with all the zeal of a Grand Kleagle of the KKK. They have become the present day equivalent of segregationists, of secessionists, of Herbert Hoover fiddling while America burned.
They don’t see that, either, and probably even believe that their words speak louder than their actions. And they say, of course, that they’re not a bunch of racist goons, who would rather send the nation — already in the depths of a Republican-created recession — into the rails than allow the President and the Congress that the PEOPLE elected a mere 21 months ago succeed.

And they write THIS:
An unchecked executive, a compliant legislature, and an overreaching judiciary have combined to thwart the will of the people and overturn their votes and their values, striking down long-standing laws and institutions and scorning the deepest beliefs of the American people.
Which OUGHT to be engraved on their tombstones — if only so that people visiting graveyards would know where to relieve themselves. Unbelievable.
The sorrow is that if you can’t see it, there is virtually nothing that can be done for your blindness. It is the political equivalent of alcoholism, and no intervention can suffice.
Consider yourselves cannon fodder.

The Gingrinch Steals ANOTHER Christmas?
A big WTF to the Republicans’ “Pledge to America” — of which 20 pages will undoubtedly never be read.
Holy sweet jeebus.
This then, is the Fa(r)ce of the Enemy.
Courage.
