It’s bad, kids.
I leant upon a coppice gateWhen Frost was spectre-grey,And Winter’s dregs made desolateThe weakening eye of day.The tangled bine-stems scored the skyLike strings of broken lyres,And all mankind that haunted nighHad sought their household fires. The land’s sharp features seemed to beThe Century’s corpse outleant,His crypt the cloudy canopy,The wind his death-lament.The ancient pulse of germ and birthWas shrunken hard and dry,And every spirit upon earthSeemed fervourless as I….
The darkness enfolds our land. Civility and, therefore, civilization deteriorate at an accelerating pace. No one with wit can deny this. And yet, the land resembles nothing so much as a giant ostrich farm, every hole in the ground filled with ostrich crania. There is always an excuse. It’s not torture. It wasn’t the murder of at least 100,000 innocents with whom we had no quarrel. Somebody else did it. Or the Latin fallacy of “tu quoque,” [TOO KWOH kway] or “you did it too,” spoken in a language that did not yet existwhen it was known to be a fallacy, a lie, a specious argument. Listen:
Tim Mak / Politico: Neil Munro bad, media worse, say conservative bloggers at RightOnline — LAS VEGAS – Conservative bloggers at the RightOnline conference on Saturday assailed the Daily Caller’s Neil Munro for interrupting President Barack Obama during remarks at the White House - but tempered their criticism by arguing that such tactics wouldn’t be necessary if the president regularly took questions from the press and the media asked tough ones…
See? It’s Obama’s fault that he was heckled. That was easy. (Oh, and waterboarding isn’t torture.) And this steaming pile of reasoning:
“I think that the media, including POLITICO, is questioning Munro’s tactics and actions more than the president for his executive actions, is shameless. They’re making Munro the story when they should be questioning the president,” asserted [blogger Jim] Hoft [of the magic eyes].
Many bloggers recalled the Sam Donaldson [sic], who frequently shouted questions and went toe-to-toe with President Ronald Reagan as ABC’s chief White House correspondent during the 1980s. “Where’s the Sam Donaldson of this administration?” asked Clouthier.
“[Munro’s tactic] is not my style, but if we had a Sam Donaldson this cycle, he would be up there screaming. Where’s the courage?” Blogger James Wigderson, who blogs at Wigderson.com, added, “If Sam Donaldson can do it, anyone can do it!”
In fact, Daily Caller Editor-in-Chief Tucker Carlson said after the exchange in the Rose Garden, “I don’t remember Diane Sawyer scolding her colleague Sam Donaldson for heckling President Reagan. And she shouldn’t have. A reporter’s job is to ask questions and get answers.”
False analogy. Donaldson never interrupted a Reagan speech. Never. Talking Point. Tu quoque. Talking Tu Quoque Point. Tu Quoque Point.
The problem with never being wrong is that you become a monster. Nothing that you do is ever wrong, so you can do anything. And, until the tanks start rolling through your suburbs, and the last of your air defenses are shot down, it never occurs to you that you might have ever done anything less than brilliant and perfect. History’s villains, ironically, never realize they’re villains. They always see themselves as heroes.
(And there are some who are lost in translation, like Napoleon, who is a villain in English, but a hero in French.)
Screencap: Breitbart Battiness Brought to you by Clearasil®
I could talk about the strange Black Mass in Las Vegas mourning Dead Breitbart and celebrating his spirit, as Kochs’ Americans for Prosperity hosts the Rightie Blogosmear at Sheldon Adelson’s casino/resort, with Sarah Palin going utter gutter on the President and the Press, as is her wont. (It’s OK Righties: Google ”wont” — it isn’t any sly reference to her lady parts. )
Instead I can only comment that perhaps that’s the only place in North America that could contain such a concentration of sheer wickedness and prevarication without cracking the Earth’s crust with the sheer weight of lies misrepresented.
I could talk about the continual Psy-Ops War of the Big Lie, where lies about the president, about our government and about our dying ENVIRONMENT become true if screamed often enough and loud enough.
I could talk about an entire self-referential rhetorical Universe filled with the hatiest hate a hater ever hated even in the Glorious and Halcyon Days of Senator Joe McCarthy and Congressman Nixon and the House UnAmerican Activities Committee and pumpkins.
But I want you to see THIS, which is not remarkable for it snark, its mindless hatred or its utter lack of the mildest scintilla of actual thought, but is remarkable for being so very UNremarkable in the Right Wing Rhetorical Role-Playing Virtual Reality “Game of Thrones.” From the blatant LucasFilm trademark ripoff site “The Jawa Report”:

…because the only good holocaust is complete genocide. These are the same people who become outraged if one dares to link Islamic terrorism with Islam.
You’d think antisemitic vandalism – swastikas (albeit, backwards) – would solicit outrage and calls to find the culprits. Unfortunately, among New York Post commenters, a hate crime is of little concern. Sample comments:
I’d be willing to bet everyone of these commenters posting hateful, antisemitic comments are Obama-supporting democrats.
Rupert Murdoch’s New York Post? Liberals? There are FIVE comments (cherry picked out of 62 when I checked now). Of those five, three are “Top Commenter”s. Now, to be a “top commenter” at the Post, what would you assume their political leanings are? R or D? Conservative or Liberal? Civilized or Barbarian?
Contemporary anti-semitic caricature found way too high
in the Google images rankings search for “jew.” From an Idaho
“white power” website, seemingly. No link will be supplied by this blog.
There is no thought process involved here. Blatant antisemitism in the New York Post is self-evidently from … liberals? This beggars commentary and begs for straight-jacket. Or consider Mitch McConnell’s incestuous quickie with Breitbart Dot Com yesterday:
by BEN SHAPIRO 1 day ago
Tomorrow, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) will speak at American Enterprise Institute, where he is scheduled to talk about anti-First Amendment intimidation by the Obama Administration and by the political left associated with it. Sen. McConnell has long been one of the most ardent advocates of the First Amendment on Capitol Hill, standing firm against the Bipartisan Campaign Finance Reform Act sponsored by Senators John McCain and Russ Feingold, among other violations of First Amendment freedom of political speech.
Breitbart News spoke with Sen. McConnell in anticipation of his speech. He called the Obama Administration’s record on the First Amendment “terrible.”
“This is a dangerous, radical administration,” said McConnell. “I’m going to lay out a long litany of abuses pursued by the Obama Administration and its allies against its political opponents,” McConnell said. “It’s reminiscent of the Nixon administration. It’s much more pervasive than Clinton. They have their enemies list. They’re checking it twice. They’re going to go after those that have been naughty and not nice.”
Let’s see. The Tea Party Caucus signs a hysterical letter to the Attorney General (whom they ALSO want to hold in contempt of Congress) over three prank phone calls (could be as high as four by now) and now the Senate Minority Leader is spreading the meme that The Obama Administration is like Nixon’s White House?
He Who Was “Not A Crook”
Please note that McConnell collaborated with Breitbart dot com to launch this. As is B dot C in the thick of the Evil Whatshisname Terrorists are Calling the SWAT Team on us hysteria (which continues, unabated). The fact that no one’s listening to them in the media doesn’t seem to bother them.
Their message will get out, if only in slithery prevarications in letters that your grandma forwards to you, after receiving it from her fellow church ladies, in between chain letters for luck.
This is the Big Lie, and it’s coordinated at the highest levels, and those Coordinating it are meeting at Sheldon Adelson’s Las Vegas Shangri La, bankrolled by the Koch Brothers?
Sheldon Adelson, largest contributor in the “Who Wants to Be President?” Reality
Game Show hosts the top partisan bloggers at his casino. That’s gotta be healthy.
It’s dark, kids. But heark:
At once a voice arose amongThe bleak twigs overheadIn a full-hearted evensongOf joy illimited; An aged thrush, frail, gaunt, and small,In blast-beruffled plume,Had chosen thus to fling his soulUpon the growing gloom. So little cause for carolingsOf such ecstatic soundWas written on terrestrial thingsAfar or nigh around,That I could think there trembled throughHis happy good-night airSome blessed Hope, whereof he knewAnd I was unaware.
