Evidently the zeitgeist has a well-known liberal bias. Keeping identical language from 2004 and 2008 the GOP platform committee was in the wrong place with the wrong platform plank at the wrong moment …
GOP rejects rape exception in platform

PoliticoTAMPA, Fla. — Even as Mitt Romney sought to quash the furor surrounding Todd Akin’s “legitimate” rape comments, the Republican platform committee here approved an abortion plank that includes no exemptions for rape, incest or even to save the life of the mother.
The platform committee instead approved draft language Tuesday, calling for a “Human Life Amendment” that gives legal protection to the unborn. Democrats quickly labeled the GOP language the “Akin Plank,” referring to the Missouri Senate candidate’s statements that victims of “legitimate rape” rarely get pregnant.
There is a REAL woman and a theoretical “baby.” Whether there is a “child” or not is your OPINION. (And we ought to be careful about assigning civil rights to things with gills and tails). When you deny the reality of the real woman and make law based on your opinion, you are acting not merely irrationally, but monstrously.
There are “real” things and “imaginary” things. It is always important to understand the difference.

An acorn is not an oak, else we’d all have oak furniture.
Courage.

All they need is somebody capable of signing his name to make this stuff a reality. I suppose they want to save the unborn so they can starve the kids to death because most abortions are young girls who are poor.
It’s plain and simple, the people in the “grand old party” have been partying for so long they have “pickled” their brains. Now most of them are dimwitted or evil. Living here in the bible belt it’s very confusing to understand someone who one minute is talking very reasonable, and the next goes off into the wingnut mind warp, and begins gushing total evil and insanity.
aren’t these conservative, tea party guys all constitutional? where in that is the “consent of the governed” (us of the female gender) factored in? I mean I can buy a gun and shoot someone who comes into my home uninvited (unless it is a police officer) but I can’t have a legal medical procedure performed without jumping through hoops? I fear that to many of “christianist” movement, female is the same as property.
FYI, for that “can’t become pregnant during rape” bullshit

And if we want to get all “rights” here, how about the 1st Amendment that states freedom of religion. Why does their religious tenets trump my religious tenet of “Mind Your Own Business”? And don’t give me that “common good” crap and protecting the children When at the same time cutting food stamps, medicare, education, infrastructure improvement for the sake of reducing our already ridiculously low tax rates!
Sorry to be so long winded but it gets my goat, or as my teenage son has told me, quoting author John Green, makes me turn into the “Giant Squid of Anger” (Flailing my arms and moving about, sputtering).
Keep telling truth to power!!
Love ya,
Teri
