Mark Levin / Facebook:Conservatives of all stripes, especially Tea Party activists, this is an attempt to destroy your ability to influence the presidential and vice presidential nomination process in the Republican Party. It is an attempt to eviscerate the input of state parties.
After all the laws passed in the name of voter suppression, it is more than a bit ironic to read this.
But there is an important, if ancient, lesson here:
Be careful when you try to take someone’s vote away. The next vote that might be taken is yours.
Or, the sword cuts both ways.
But lest we become enraptured of schadenfreude, let’s remember that ANY voter’s suppression is the suppression of all. I believe as much in the right of state parties to vote in their party’s conventions and on their own rules as any other voter’s. The vote IS the franchise, the only thing that grants legitimacy to our government.
Now, let’s see if a few judges and the Supreme Court figure this out. Voting is the Prime Directive. Everything else proceeds from it.
