Palin’s Last Spin

Sarah Palin Parts Ways With FOX News
Scott Conroy / Real Clear Politics

After a three-year run as a paid contributor to the nation’s highest-rated cable news channel, Sarah Palin and FOX News have cut ties, according to a source close to the former Alaska governor.

“It’s my understanding that Gov. Palin was offered a contract by FOX, and she decided not to renew the arrangement,” the source close to Palin told RCP. “She remains focused on broadening her message of common-sense conservatism across the country and will be expanding her voice in the national discussion.”

The source declined to say whether Palin would pursue a television contract with another news network, such as CNN….

Yeah. Right. Sure.

Seriously, has there ever been this pampered a loser? From a two-year governor of Alaska and media whore to this cloistered Howard Hughes figure requiring layers of protocol and spokeserpents and bloggers and fictitious business names?

Ain’t We grand?

Also-ran Sarah

Uh, no.

And as she slinks from the national stage, we are reminded of how an unschooled religious fanatic from Alaska, with a minor resume entry as an Anchorage sportscaster and a beauty pageant runner up, could overdose on the feedback between an unprepared ego and an unrelenting echo chamber of celebutard media to produce the Paris Hilton after Paris Hilton but before Kim Kardashian:

In 2010, FOX constructed a studio inside Palin’s Wasilla, Alaska, home — where her husband, Todd, would sometimes act as cameraman and producer during her live television appearances.

Palin’s relationship with FOX appeared to take several rocky turns. In a Facebook post during the Republican convention last August, for instance, the 2008 Republican vice-presidential nominee lamented that the news channel had “cancelled all my scheduled interviews tonight.” …

… Quoth the Homer Simpsonesque Marching Morons site Real Clear Politics, a conservative news aggregator now a 51% owned subsidiary of Forbes Media.

That’s “Forbes” as in “Steve ‘Flat Tax’ Forbes” son of dead Malcolm, its founder.

So did Sarah quit or was she let go? Fox has said her contract wasn’t renewed. And so it goes.

wasilla cap!

Not worth much on the collector’s market

As if anyone cared.

Freak shows happen all over America all the time. Just ask Honey Boo Boo.

  1. And, after overstaying her welcome, the illiterate forest creature skitters back into the woods, hopefully to stay.

    • She’ll stick around like athlete’s foot spores, but only minor flare ups. I think this is her exit from the Big Tent to permanent side show status.

    • Woods? I’ve been to Wasilla and it’s just a friggin’ suburb, with giant Fred Meyer and WalMart, shopping malls, every fast food franchise you can imagine and two Blockbuster Videos. This whole nonsense that she’s some “country girl” is just that: nonsense. Stupid, yes. Arrogant, yes. But “country” and “woods”? Not so much. Just another fake cowboy in John or Jane Wayne drag. See the “North To Alaska” series, including all the photos we took.

      • I was just helping myself to an Maherism I particularly enjoyed. But I did read your North to Alaska series after you pointed it out, and just to prove what a frisson addict I am, it led me to your writing on the Salton Sink, which is a geography that has always intrigued me, and your description of the geology of the area I found quite sobering, which ultimately led me back to the Heinlein short story “Water is for Washing”, which depicts the catastrophe from the point of view of a travelling hydrophobic salesman, two children, and a hobo who run for their lives from the flood.

Sometimes I go all stumblefoot because of lazy thinking, and make a public fool out of myself. But I learn the greatest things sometimes that way. It also means I spend an awful lot of time here on this blog after thinking I’ll only be here for a few minutes.

        • Well, normally I would admonish you to stop wasting your time reading all them blogs, except you’re reading mine, so I’ll just say thank you.

Otherwise I’d paint myself into a rhetorical corner from which escape would be all but impossible. Kind of like the GOP.

And just think….close to 60 million arseholes voted for this wingnut.

Her delusional fan club at conservatives4palin are very amusing.

  4. It’s probably not really an either/or, quit/fire binary. The likeliest scenario could be supported by either camp. Fox probably calculated her current market value based on ole Adam Smith’s wisdom of the markets. Then they made her what she considered to be an insulting offer. It’s natural to see your pay as a measure your self-worth; natural to assume the calculations were pretty far apart.

    • I have no interest in whether she jumped or was fired, as ought to be clear from the posting. Facts don’t enter into Palin’s world. Why should the nuances of her departure from the biggest platform in Rightieland? She’s gone. Relegated to the side show at the carnie, I doubt seriously that she will ever see the center ring of the Big Top again. cf. Phyllis Schlafly.

  5. Wild Bill

Wait a minute, in this grim world she was a natural for some laughs, now there will be fewer “stress relievers” for us. How a good thing (she’s gone) go bad, (less laughs). Well, I guess we have enough different republicans to laugh at, but, darn it, she was a natural.

  6. Please don’t degrade Honey Boo Boo like that!

  7. What Amy suggested sounds right to me; Fox probably offered a low-ball renewal contract which likely reflected the degradation of her ability to inspire the glassy-eyed moonies that constitute the entirety of her following these days, and Grifty McQuitter took a pass.

Todd sometimes acted as her PRODUCER??? What’s to produce? Some talking head would ask her a question, and she’d go off on a series of aimless tangents which had nothing whatever to do with the question, but were instead a series of compressed soundbites which reflected only talking points and efforts to make her look like a deep thinker.

    • Oh, it gets worse. She did an “exclusive” interview with Breitbart Dead Media today, consisting of three (coun[t ‘em) questions. The second answer shows such a stunning disregard for facts as to imply that she needs less a TV ‘studio’ than a rubber room. The Palin Utter Confidence in Abject Cluelessness™ remains untouched by events. (Although, as my people in the Midwest might say, she seems “touched in the head” less than by the konservative aAngels of her bitter nature.”
