A writer, published author, novelist, literary critic and political observer for a quarter of a quarter-century more than a quarter-century, Hart Williams has lived in the American West for his entire life. Having grown up in Wyoming, Kansas and New Mexico, a survivor of Texas and a veteran of
Hollywood, Mr. Williams currently lives in Oregon, along with an astonishing amount of pollen.
Some highlights and lowlights include: Winning a Gold Medal in the first “Virtual” World’s Fair. A Santa Fe Delegate to Boy’s State in New Mexico, where he was elected a state senator. A Delegate to the 2000 Democratic National Convention in Los Angeles. An accredited member of the Independent Media Center at same — the sole inhabitant of the overlap of THOSE two Venn diagrams. A National Merit Scholar, complete with an M.E. Sadler Scholarship. A cab driver. An editor and critic for Hustler Magazine. Wrote for New West and Los Angeles magazines, the Los Angeles Free Press and the Los Angeles Times. Wrote for the Orange County Register, and founded their Book Review section. Ditto the Los Angeles Herald-Examiner. Ditto the Eugene (OR) Register-Guard. Ditto the Santa Fe Sun (are we sensing a pattern here?) A finisher and crane operator at a steel mill in Ottawa, Kansas. A contract novelist for Berkley-Jove, under their Charter imprint. Buck’s Rock Camp Counselor — Theater Arts and Clown Shack. A Boy Scout from Laramie, Wyoming, as the 7th Edition of the Boy Scout Handbook (1965) illustrated in watercolor on the title page*. (* See below, except there WAS no troop # 7. He was in Troop 133, Loyal Order of the Moose, Longs Peak Council.) A contributing editor to Oui, Velvet, Video X, Adult Cinema Review, Adam and Film World magazines. An editor with most of the above, along with Players, The News Circle, and Mideast Business Exchange. A computer typesetter from the Compugraphic IV through the 8600 and Power View, and AM Varityper models from the 4810 and 5200 on until their bankruptcy. (Everything from books and magazines to space station proposals, Lee Nails ® boxes and Spanish supermarket fliers.) Pasteup and graphic artist. 3rd Place in Spelling, Kansas, Class A, 1970. A tractor jockey/soybean field tiller. President of the Eugene Astronomical Society (and newsletter editor). A transportation captain for movies; a grip, gaffer and camera assistant; set design, continuity, security and stills. A paid and produced screenwriter, a teleplay writer, ditto. An assistant producer, a director … OK, you get the idea. He didn’t just LIVE in Hollywood, North Hollywood and become a “founding father” of West Hollywood in its incorporation referendum. Security Guard, rave security and bar bouncer. Has appeared in several films and a few porn videos (clothed in nearly all cases). A stage designer. An Honorary Texan, and an Honorary Clown. Drywall and roofing worker. Fine art exhibitions. Hosted and paid performer for open mics. Pianist. Guitarist. Vocalist. Sound engineer. Has recorded, mastered and sold albums of his original musical compositions. A Page at the 1968 Wyoming Republican State Convention. Publicity chairman and webmaster for The Oregon Democratic Party. Webmaster for John Holmes dot com (they still owe him $$$). Debated for Texas Christian University, managed record & tape stores (remember them?) and bookstores. Weekly radio pundit — “the Voice” — on the local AirAmerica affiliate, KOPT (“Oregon’s Progressive Talk,” RIP). Climbed Flatiron #3 in Boulder, Colorado (but then, hasn’t everybody?) Led the mantrums at a Tibetan Buddhist meditation group for twelve years (thus, “the Voice”). Was a Sergeant at Arms for the Oregon Delegation to the 2000 DNC, and at the Oregon State Convention when the LaRouchies attempted to crash the party. Zine publisher. Illustrator. Double entry accountant, licensed tax preparer and, of course, infamous defamee of World Nut Daily, Sean Hannity, Brent Bozell, Little Theodore Nugent and the great Faux Nooz™ Network. A Kelly Girl™. One of a select number of authors who have written as “Blakely St. James.” Copywriter and PR for A&M Records and UCLA. And lots and lots and lots of other stuff, but you get the idea.

Wow. What a great ‘about.’ You must be me!
“I must be me, I must be me, but I’m not me.”
