WASHINGTON — President Trump signed on Tuesday a much-anticipated executive order intended to roll back most of President Barack Obama’s climate-change legacy, celebrating the move as a way to promote energy independence and to restore thousands of lost coal industry jobs….
When, instead of paper compilations — e.g. “books” — the information itself is being deleted, wouldn’t that qualify as “book burning” in the most existential sense?

Look: I oughtn’t have to explain what deep horror ensues in the wake of the intentional destruction of knowledge to fulfill a political and/or superstitious agenda. But that’s where we’ve gotten to.

I was raised on my great-grandmother’s Quaker credo: the Truth can always stand questioning. So, when the questioning insists on destroying the questionable thing, just to stop the questions, my blood runs chill.
Whatever the final impact, the superstitious and pragmatically useless unleashing of the rapine pollution demons has begun. Drill, baby, drill!
Consider the absurdity of claiming that making coal mining and burning easier, we’re on the road to “energy independence.” (We don’t import coal, we EXPORT it.) Or the promise that more coal miners will be employed, when the industry is losing to cheaper, cleaner natural gas AND automation? (Coal mining and coal miners are NOT coming back, Donald, no matter how many times you watch and rewatch How Green Was My Valley.)

Many undoubtedly are.
And the sad thing is, “Rapture” Christianity is heretical in the extreme. Many “Rapture” churches do not even ascribe to the Nicene Creed*, the litmus test for Christianity (as an agreed-upon belief system) since the Fourth Century, A.D.

Many instead use an alternative “statement of faith” adding that the “scripture” is the divinely-inspired Word-O-God® and CANNOT be but interpreted literally. The Song of Solomon is rarely featured in their Sunday Schools, as a result.
Blame the Scofield Reference Bible for being the only concordance that poor preachers out in the tulies could afford, circa 1909-1917.

I can not grasp what these ignorant people want to do. The future I see in ignoring science is extinction! Could they just want to get us there faster? Or are they ignorant of their ignorance?

Having seen today’s “Susan Rice” witch hunt BS headlines, I can only think that fundamentally all Republicans are in the same condition that Old Yeller was in at the end of the movie, and that the same solution may be called for.
