AP Exclusive: Justice Dept dropping Flynn’s criminal case — WASHINGTON (AP) — The Justice Department on Thursday said it is dropping the criminal case against President Donald Trump’s first national security adviser, Michael Flynn, abandoning a prosecution that became a rallying cry for Trump …
Funny how a “president” installs a “fixer” and suddenly investigations, prosecutions and other legal problems go away. History is rewritten and pardon me because I have to go and throw up now.
Remember, Flynn tried to weasel out of his “guilty” pleas, and the judge asked him straight up: “Did you DO the crimes you pled guilty to?”
“Yes,” Flynn admitted.
Oh. I guess if you feel butthurt then your crimes mysteriously disappear along with your admissions of guilt.
This is law in Trumpland: defend against charges and investigations by delaying all actions with endless court cases. Weasel and worm the right outcomes in cases you didn’t like. And use the new, corrupted Federal judiciary to obtain desired outcomes on Oval Office legislation by fiat.
Make a signing statement, when handed two trillion dollars to disperse that you WILL NOT accept oversight of the spending.
Meantime, Senate Republican Majority Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky risks the lives of all 100 senators and Capitol support staff so that he can …
Deal with the pandemic? Nope.
Deal with the economic meltdown? Nope.
No: the Senate is in session so McConnell (who ran a Kangaroo Court of his own in January) can continue to pack the federal courts.
Rapey rapey Republicons.
Oh, and Trump’s blatant mockery of separation of powers by allowing testimony before the REPUBLICAN Senate, but not the DEMOCRATIC* House of Representatives belies any notion that “The Constitution” is a beloved document that Americans on all sides of the aisle love, share and practice.
Were the Constitution beloved, “patriots” would be up in arms (literally, as they did in Lansing, Michigan and elsewhere last weekend) DEMANDING that the occupant of the Oval Office honor the Constitution and stop stonewalling the Congress of the United States of America.
‘We’re just killing time until some spoiled rich kid
turns us back into a monarchy ruled by a mad king.’
“A nation of laws and not of men“?!??
What a joke.
But no one ought be laughing.
